Plain-language summary
IslamTools does not require an account and does not include advertising or analytics SDKs. Your prayer log, Quran progress, bookmarks and most preferences are stored locally on your device.
Some features need internet services. Quran content, audio, maps, geocoding and weather can involve their respective providers. The optional iPhone Live Activity service sends a limited prayer schedule and anonymous delivery credentials to our backend. The website prayer-time tool sends the city, country and calculation method you enter to retrieve a result. The details are below.
Information we do not ask you to provide
IslamTools does not ask for your name, email address or phone number to use the app. We do not use an advertising ID, behavioral analytics profile or cross-app tracking identifier.
Internet providers, hosting providers and content APIs may receive standard connection information such as your IP address and user agent as part of delivering a request. We do not use that network information to build advertising or analytics profiles.
Data kept on your device
The following information is normally stored locally using platform storage:
- Saved location and prayer-time preferences
- Prayer records, streaks and rakah-counter state
- Quran reading progress, bookmarks, cached text and downloaded audio
- Dua favorites, app language, theme and notification preferences
Deleting the app generally removes its local app storage, subject to normal iCloud, device-backup and operating-system behavior outside our control.
Location permission
Location is used to calculate prayer times, determine Qibla direction and label your saved place. Prayer-time calculations are performed on your device. You may instead select a manual location.
Platform geocoding services may process coordinates when converting a location into a city or place name. OpenStreetMap tile servers may receive normal network requests when you open the manual map picker.
Optional iPhone Live Activities
When you enable the iPhone prayer-countdown Live Activity, IslamTools uses a Cloudflare Worker and Apple Push Notification service so a countdown can start or update while the app is not open.
The app currently sends:
- A randomly generated app-install identifier and secret used to authenticate that installation
- Apple push-to-start, device and Live Activity tokens needed to deliver updates
- Your saved location label, such as a city and country; if reverse geocoding fails after a manual map selection, that label may be shown as coordinate text
- Your two-letter app-language code and whether the app is using Apple’s sandbox or production push environment
- A locally calculated seven-day schedule containing prayer names and timestamps, including the next prayer and the day’s Fajr, Sunrise, Dhuhr, Asr, Maghrib and Isha times
- Live Activity identifiers and prayer metadata needed to update or end an activity
The current Live Activity upload does not send separate latitude or longitude fields, and the server does not calculate your prayer times. The app calculates the schedule locally before upload.
Disabling Live Activities sends an unregister request that marks the installation inactive and stops it from being selected for future scheduled pushes. It does not currently delete the backend row or immediately erase stored tokens and event records. We do not promise a fixed automatic-deletion period at this time.
Quran, audio, maps and other content providers
IslamTools uses external services only when a feature needs them. Depending on what you open, requests may be made to:
- Al Quran Cloud for Quran text, translations, search and tafseer data
- Quran.com and its content delivery networks for recitation metadata and audio
- OpenStreetMap for map tiles in the manual location picker
- Your operating system’s geocoding provider for place lookup
- Open-Meteo for weather information used by weather-related app features
- Apple or Google for app-store, review, notification and platform services
These providers receive the network requests required to return content and apply their own privacy policies. IslamTools does not attach your name, email or an IslamTools account because no such account is required.
Website data
The website is hosted by Vercel. Vercel may process standard request logs and security information needed to serve and protect the site. IslamTools does not currently run a website analytics or advertising tracker.
When you use the website prayer-time lookup, the city, country and calculation method you enter are sent to our Vercel function and forwarded to the AlAdhan prayer-times API. The result is returned to your browser. Do not enter a street address or other unnecessary personal information in the city field.
The website Qibla tool calculates the bearing in your browser. It does not send your coordinates to IslamTools; your browser and operating system still control the location-permission process.
Security and retention
We use transport encryption and installation-specific authentication for the Live Activity service. No internet service can be guaranteed completely secure.
Backend records are retained as needed to operate, secure and troubleshoot the Live Activity service. Because the current implementation does not yet provide an automatic user-facing deletion control, contact us if you want deletion assistance. We will make reasonable efforts to identify and remove a record where technically possible.
Your choices and requests
- Use a manual location or revoke location permission in system settings.
- Disable Live Activities to stop future scheduled Live Activity processing for the installation.
- Clear locally saved app data by using relevant in-app controls or deleting the app, subject to device backups.
- Email support@islamtools.com for access, correction or deletion requests. Because there is no account, we may need additional technical information and may not be able to associate anonymous data with you.
Children
IslamTools is a general-audience religious utility and does not knowingly ask children to provide a name, email address or account profile. If you believe a child has submitted personal information through a support message, contact us so we can address it.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as features or providers change. The date at the top shows the latest revision. Material changes will be described here and, when appropriate, surfaced in the app.
